Charles G. Guffey

Dr. Guffey brings more than 35 years experience in operations, engineering and consulting with large and small companies, domestic and international, with expertise in process, natural gas, refining and petroleum engineering in both operations and consulting.  His expertise ranges from the underground reservoirs through production, processing, refining and delivery of oil and gas downstream.

Dr. Guffey’s work experience includes:

• Providing oil and gas reserve evaluations for large and small companies, both domestic and international.
  
• Supplying audits and expert witness testimony for royalty payment disputes.
  
• Conducting underground storage inventory certifications.
  
• Preparing audits of operating and processing agreements for producers and working interest owners.
  
• Completing process design of gas processing plants, dense-phase gas pipelines, offshore production facilities and crude oil stabilization and terminaling in the North Sea.
  
• Developing a large gas production, gathering, processing and storage system for offshore Indonesia.
  
• Providing due-diligence inspections for reserves and production facilities in Russia.
  
• Carrying out small refinery economic evaluations and inspections.
  
• Providing expert witness testimony in pipeline right-of-way disputes.

Dr. Guffey has held consulting positions with Miller and Lents, Ltd., Barnes and Click, Purvin and Gertz and operating positions with Exxon Corporation. He has also been on the faculty of Texas Tech and Texas A&M Universities. He holds chemical engineering degrees from Georgia Tech, Michigan and LSU. Dr. Guffey is a registered engineer in Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers.

David M. Nguyen

Mr. Nguyen, a seasoned upstream/midstream energy executive, brings a 30-year history in international business development, market strategy, sales, operations, infrastructure development, manufacturing processes, mechanical design and engineering research & development (R&D).

Experience includes leading commercial development efforts at the top levels of government and industry and managing negotiations leading ultimately to investment in and implementation of world-class projects. Currently, Mr. Nguyen is spearheading efforts to develop energy infrastructure in Asian markets.

Experience also includes: R&D for a variety of drill bits and other down-hole tools; design engineering; management of a CAD/ CAM/ CAE mainframe VMS system; market strategy development; operations; business development; negotiation strategy and management; and providing technical/sales support to customers.

Mr. Nguyen successfully obtained six U.S. patents for nozzle, PDC cutter and special drill bit designs and was the recipient of a special “Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation” in 1992 from Petroleum Engineer International.

In 2004, Mr. Nguyen was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to participate as a delegate on the state’s trade mission to Vietnam endorsed by the Office of the Governor and Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment. In 2002, Mr. Nguyen managed a special project for NASA to design a special impregnated diamond drill bit for use in the Mars Exploration Drilling Project. In 1989, he managed the design of a special tungsten carbide pick with Polycrystalline Diamond Compact for use in the world’s longest subsea tunnel, linking France and the UK.

Mr. Nguyen successfully completed studies in the Executive Program at MIT’s Sloan School on Technology and Strategy Management and holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Houston.

Gerhard H. Ohlhaver

Gerry Ohlhaver has worked in 52 countries and brings experienced senior leadership to the Zeus consulting team. He has been in supervisory charge of (or has directly led) projects in refining and allied fields with a total investment cost of some $12 billion. With more than 35 years of project execution and program management experience, he brings to Zeus expertise in Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis, gas separation, cryogenic systems, sulfur removal and other gas processing and monetization technologies, both proprietary and open art.

He started up and served as VP and general manager of Black & Veatch’s Houston business unit. Prior to that, as VP of international projects at B&V’s process division, he held overall responsibility for projects in the Middle East, South America and Europe. Before joining B&V, as VP of project management for ABB Lummus Global, Mr. Ohlhaver held principal responsibility for successful execution of domestic and international projects. Prior to that, as VP with The Badger Co., he directed ~ 930 home office engineering and design professionals and ~ 530 field workers concurrently. Before joining Badger, he worked for M.W. Kellogg on five continents.

Mr. Ohlhaver served as business advisor to the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, working in Sharjah, the UK and Taiwan on fertilizer industry developments in the UAE. He has (1) led multinational teams on three continents in the development of associated natural gas beneficiation; (2) developed business plans for Coflexip’s penetration of the US market for large-diameter armored hose; (3) led an integrated client/contractor team in Uruguay and the US to assess a radical expansion of the Montevideo refinery operations for the Uruguayan National Petroleum Co.; and (4) provided process plant design advisory services to Design Power Inc. (a subsidiary of Nokia) on their artificial intelligence 3D software plant design optimization program.

Mr. Ohlhaver holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has also completed coursework at New York University in the fields of Law and Business Administration.

Ed McGee

A professional engineer and manager with a broad international background encompassing more than 40 years in the energy industry, Mr. McGee brings managerial and hands-on consulting experience through the development and application of state-of-the-art quantitative planning, operating, and management techniques such as computer-based simulation and linear programming optimization. He has held executive positions in energy resource management, refinery scheduling, chemical development, worldwide consulting and business development. He has testified before a number of governmental agencies as an expert witness.

Formerly, Mr. McGee was a Vice President/Director at Stone & Webster Management Consultants, Inc. and a Business Development Manager at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. responsible for investments and feasibility studies for world-class chemical and refining complexes. Mr. McGee received both BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA in Quantitative Analysis from the University of Chicago. He has presented professional papers worldwide.
