CB&I has been a leader in the design and construction of LNG facilities for half a century. Since its first LNG project in 1958, CB&I has remained at the forefront of LNG technology and innovation.
CB&I's experience includes:
- Regasification – CB&I has designed and built nine grassroots LNG import terminals with regasification facilities and four LNG import terminal expansions. The company offers cost-efficient patented processes for recondensing boil-off gas and a BTU reduction process.
- Liquefaction – CB&I is the EPC contractor responsible for the Peru LNG baseload liquefaction facility and has been the mechanical erection contractor for four additional baseload liquefaction plants.
- Peak Shaving – CB&I designed and constructed one of the first LNG peak shaving plants in the United States in 1965 and has built plants with liquefaction capacities ranging from 1 to 20 MMSCFD using its patented Mixed Refrigerant Loop (MRL) liquefaction process and other third party processes. Having constructed 30 peak shaving facilities around the world, the company has extensive permitting and site experience.
- Floating LNG –CB&I's patented floating LNG production technology, known as NicheLNGSM, uses a compact topside liquefaction process on board a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.
- LNG Storage – CB&I has designed and built more than 220 LNG storage tanks for import, export, and peak shaving facilities. The company has constructed single, double, and full containment LNG tanks in sizes up to 200,000 cubic meters.
