Bulgaria’s energy regulation is promulgated substantially by the Ministry of Economy and Energy, a cabinet of officials who work on economic and energy policy development.  The Ministry has laid out a variety of national energy targets, in addition to those imposed on it by European mandates.
            The Bulgarian government has several acts in place to govern natural gas project development, including:

1. The Energy Act;
2. The Energy Efficiency Act;
3. The National Long-Term Program to Encourage the Use of Biomass;
4. The Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources and Biofuels Act; and
5. The Waters Act

Companies wishing to develop projects in Bulgaria should evaluate the various application forms offered by the Ministry.  The forms are in Bulgarian only, however.
